BLATZ
Jesus said: If those who lead you say to you: See,
the kingdom is in heaven, then the birds of the heaven will go
before you; if they say to you: It is in the sea, then the fish will
go before you. But the kingdom is within you, and it is outside of
you. When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will
know that you are the sons of the living Father. But if you do not
know yourselves, then you are in poverty, and you are poverty. |

Jesus said, "If those who lead you (plur.) say
to you, 'See, the kingdom is in heaven,' then the birds of heaven
will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the
fish will precede you. But the kingdom is inside of you. And it is
outside of you. "When you become acquainted with yourselves,
then you will be recognized. And you will understand that it is you
who are children of the living father. But if you do not become
acquainted with yourselves, then you are in poverty, and it is you
who are the poverty." |

Jesus says: "If those who seek to attract you
say to you: 'See, the Kingdom is in heaven!' then the birds of
heaven will be there before you. If they say to you: 'It is in the
sea!' then the fish will be there before you. But the kingdom is
within you and it is outside of you!" 3 [3]. "When you
know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will know that it
is you who are the sons of the living Father. But if you do not know
yourselves, then you will be in a state of poverty, and it is you
<you will be> the poverty!" |

MATTHEW 5-8
5"And when you pray, do not be like the
hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the
street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received
their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room,
close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father,
who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you
pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be
heard because of their many words. 8Do not be like them, for
your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Luke 21
The Widow's Offering
1As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting
their gifts into the temple treasury. 2He also saw a poor widow
put in two very small copper coins. 3"I tell you the
truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the
others. 4All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth;
but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."
Signs of the End of the Age
5Some of his disciples were remarking about how
the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to
God. But Jesus said, 6"As for what you see here, the time
will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them
will be thrown down." 7"Teacher," they asked,
"when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they
are about to take place?"
8He replied: "Watch out that you are not
deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and, 'The
time is near.' Do not follow them. 9When you hear of wars and
revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the
end will not come right away."
10Then he said to them: "Nation will rise
against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11There will be
great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful
events and great signs from heaven. 12"But before all
this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you
to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and
governors, and all on account of my name. 13This will result in
your being witnesses to them. 14But make up your mind not to
worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. 15For I will
give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to
resist or contradict. 16You will be betrayed even by parents,
brothers, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. 17All
men will hate you because of me. 18But not a hair of your head
will perish. 19By standing firm you will gain life.
20"When you see Jerusalem being surrounded
by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. 21Then
let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city
get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. 22For
this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been
written. 23How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant
women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and
wrath against this people. 24They will fall by the sword and
will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled
on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25"There will be signs in the sun, moon
and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the
roaring and tossing of the sea. 26Men will faint from terror,
apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will
be shaken. 27At that time they will see the Son of Man coming
in a cloud with power and great glory. 28When these things
begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your
redemption is drawing near."
29He told them this parable: "Look at the
fig tree and all the trees. 30When they sprout leaves, you can
see for yourselves and know that summer is near. 31Even so,
when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is
near.
32"I tell you the truth, this generation
will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 33Heaven
and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
34"Be careful, or your hearts will be
weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and
that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. 35For it
will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. 36Be
always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is
about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of
Man."
37Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple,
and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the
Mount of Olives, 38and all the people came early in the morning
to hear him at the temple.
The Coming of the Kingdom of God
20Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when
the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God
does not come with your careful observation, 21nor will people
say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within
you."
22Then he said to his disciples, "The time
is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but
you will not see it. 23Men will tell you, 'There he is!' or
'Here he is!' Do not go running off after them. 24For the Son
of Man in his day will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up
the sky from one end to the other. 25But first he must suffer
many things and be rejected by this generation.
26"Just as it was in the days of Noah, so
also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27People were
eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah
entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.
28"It was the same in the days of Lot.
People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and
building. 29But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained
down from heaven and destroyed them all. 30"It will be
just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31On that
day no one who is on the roof of his house, with his goods inside, should
go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for
anything. 32Remember Lot's wife! 33Whoever tries to
keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. 34I
tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken
and the other left. 35Two women will be grinding grain
together; one will be taken and the other left." 37"Where,
Lord?" they asked.
He replied, "Where there is a dead body, there the
vultures will gather."
LUKE 24:23-38 22
In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the
tomb early this morning 23but didn't find his body. They came
and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24Then
some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had
said, but him they did not see." 25He said to them,
"How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the
prophets have spoken! 26Did not the Christ have to suffer these
things and then enter his glory?" 27And beginning with
Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the
Scriptures concerning himself. 28As they approached the village
to which they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther. 29But
they urged him strongly, "Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the
day is almost over." So he went in to stay with them.
30When he was at the table with them, he took
bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31Then
their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from
their sight. 32They asked each other, "Were not our hearts
burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the
Scriptures to us?"
33They got up and returned at once to
Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled
together 34and saying, "It is true! The Lord has risen and
has appeared to Simon." 35Then the two told what had
happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke
the bread.
Jesus Appears to the Disciples
36While they were still talking about this,
Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with
you."
37They were startled and frightened, thinking
they saw a ghost. 38He said to them, "Why are you
troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39Look at my
hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have
flesh and bones, as you see I have."
Mark 1
John the Baptist Prepares the Way
1The beginning of the gospel about Jesus
Christ, the Son of God.
2It is written in Isaiah the prophet:
"I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will
prepare your way" --
3"a voice of one calling in the desert,
'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.' "
4And so John came, baptizing in the desert
region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5The
whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him.
Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. 6John
wore clothing made of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist,
and he ate locusts and wild honey. 7And this was his message:
"After me will come one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose
sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8I baptize you
with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
The Baptism and Temptation of Jesus
9At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in
Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10As Jesus was
coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit
descending on him like a dove. 11And a voice came from heaven:
"You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased." 12At
once the Spirit sent him out into the desert, 13and he was in
the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild
animals, and angels attended him.
The Calling of the First Disciples
14After John was put in prison, Jesus went into
Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15"The time has
come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe
the good news!" 16As Jesus walked beside the Sea of
Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake,
for they were fishermen. 17"Come, follow me," Jesus
said, "and I will make you fishers of men." 18At once
they left their nets and followed him. 19When he had gone a
little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a
boat, preparing their nets. 20Without delay he called them, and
they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed
him.
Jesus Drives Out an Evil Spirit
21They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath
came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. 22The
people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had
authority, not as the teachers of the law. 23Just then a man in
their synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out, 24"What
do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I
know who you are--the Holy One of God!" 25"Be
quiet!" said Jesus sternly. "Come out of him!" 26The
evil spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek. 27The
people were all so amazed that they asked each other, "What is this?
A new teaching--and with authority! He even gives orders to evil spirits
and they obey him." 28News about him spread quickly over
the whole region of Galilee.
Jesus Heals Many
29As soon as they left the synagogue, they went
with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. 30Simon's
mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her. 31So
he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and
she began to wait on them. 32That evening after sunset the
people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. 33The
whole town gathered at the door, 34and Jesus healed many who
had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let
the demons speak because they knew who he was.
Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place
35Very early in the morning, while it was still
dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where
he prayed. 36Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37and
when they found him, they exclaimed: "Everyone is looking for
you!" 38Jesus replied, "Let us go somewhere else--to
the nearby villages--so I can preach there also. That is why I have
come." 39So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in
their synagogues and driving out demons.
A Man With Leprosy
40A man with leprosy came to him and begged him
on his knees, "If you are willing, you can make me clean." 41Filled
with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I
am willing," he said. "Be clean!" 42Immediately
the leprosy left him and he was cured. 43Jesus sent him away at
once with a strong warning: 44"See that you don't tell
this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the
sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to
them." 45Instead he went out and began to talk freely,
spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly
but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from
everywhere.
